This product is allergen, nut and skin irritant free. It is a gentle, nourishing and protective barrier balm that is suitable for babies, children and adults and may help with conditions such as nappy rash, diarrhoea or incontinence irritation, bedsores, scaly and irritated skin or skin that needs a little protection. It is very smooth and easy to apply, with only a small amount needed.

It may be more expensive than a popular baby cream brand but the big difference is that this balm contains no allergens, skin irritants, parabens, petroleum, chemicals or preservatives making it an ideal product to use on the delicate and sensitive skin of babies, and for those of all ages. The ingredients chosen help to heal and protect the skin barrier, help with inflammation and wound healing, and work to protect against microbes and oxidants. It is soothing and nourishing, healing and protective.

Zinc Oxide:-

  • is often used in the medical area as it assists and speeds up wound healing
  • it increases the speed of creating new body tissue over skin damage, as in eczema, psoriasis, nappy/incontinence rash and bedsores
  • it is antibacterial and antimicrobial
  • it reduces inflammation and itchiness
  • it forms a barrier and protective layer over the damaged skin helping to stop infections
  • it is also used on acne, rosacea and other inflammatory skin disorders
  • it is an important mineral present in our bodies
  • although it is a natural mineral, it is mostly manufactured for use in cosmetics and tablets
  • there is extensive research on its use in healing skin conditions and wounds
  • 5% is sufficient to form a skin barrier for nappy rash or to prevent it (see Zinc & Camellia Balm if a higher zinc level is needed. 15-20% zinc oxide in topical applications is sufficient)

Shea Butter (refined):-

  • extracted from a nut but safe for those with allergies (Anaphylaxis UK*)
  • it has phytosterols which help nourish the skin
  • it moisturises and restores elasticity
  • it has protective and healing properties
  • excellent emollient and conditioner for the skin
  • rehydrates skin, especially dry and damaged skin

Watermelon Seed Oil:-

  • a light non-greasy oil that penetrates quickly and deeply

Grapeseed Oil:-

  • good for skin elasticity

Vitamin E:-

  • helps to maintain healthy skin
  • prevents moisture loss and hydrates
  • anti-inflammatory and antioxidant

Ingredients

  • Butyrospermum parkii butter (shea butter)
  • zinc oxide (non-nano) 5%
  • citrullus vulgaris seed oil (watermelon seed oil)
  • vitis vinifera seed oil (grapeseed oil)
  • olea europaea fruit oil (olive oil)
  • borago officinalis seed oil (borage seed oil)
  • tocopherol (Vitamin E)
  • helianthus annuus seed oil (sunflower seed oil)

It contains 5% zinc oxide which research has shown is sufficient to form a skin barrier. Zinc can sometimes be drying which is why this balm contains enough to be effective but not to dry delicate skin. It also contains nourishing and moisturising ingredients and ones that heal and soothe.

A higher zinc balm such as the Zinc & Camellia one contains 18% zinc and can be used when a stronger product is needed whether over a larger area or on small patches.
